2013 CRUISIN' FOR KIDS

The 9th annual Cruisin' for Kids skiathon was held in Beaver Creek, Colorado on Friday, March 29th, 2013.  We had a small, but powerful group "Skiing for Solutions" and "Boarding for Breakthroughs" to reach our finish line--CURES!  For the second year, the format of the skiathon was a VERTICAL CHALLENGE using Vail's Epic Mix passes to track each person's vertical feet skied.  Our group goal was to ski one vertical foot for each dollar we had raised to find cures--or 1,282,500 vertical feet.

It was a beautiful spring day until lightening struck around 3:00 and closed the lifts again this year!  Very cool though since it was Good Friday!  We had 51 participants who teamed up to ski over 1,300,000 vertical feet or almost 250 miles!  While it is getting more difficult every year to have family and friends join us as their kids are grown, we were excited to have all of our boys participate with Nick, Jack, Hank, and Luke helping the DeTrempe family ski over 275,000 vertical feet or over 52 miles!  It was an exhausting, but exciting day continuing our fight for CURES!

Through these efforts at Cruisin' for Kids and our 100 Holes of Golf event, we have now raised over $1,400,000 for CURES for juvenile diabetes, congenital heart defects and pediatric cancer!!  Thank you to all of our supporters!!

2012 CRUISIN' FOR KIDS

The 8th annual Cruisin' for Kids skiathon was held in Beaver Creek, Colorado on March 26, 2012. Once again our skiathon and golfathon raised over $125,000, bringing our total amount raised in eight years to over $1,250,000.

Conditions were sparse this year in Colorado, but that didn't stop our participants from "Skiing for Solutions" and "Boarding for Breakthroughs" to reach our finish line--CURES.  This year instead of our normal scavenger hunt and Nastar races, we held our first VERTICAL CHALLENGE using Vail's Epic Mix passes to track each person's vertical feet skied.  Each individual set a goal and we set a group goal as well.  Our group goal was to ski a vertical foot for each dollar raised in the previous seven years or 1,150,000 vertical feet.  Participants had family and friends sponsor them per vertical foot skied or for the day.

We had a beautiful, warm day, but the winds picked up in the afternoon, closing most of the lifts. Even with lift closings, our smaller, but diehard group of 44 skied over 1,300,000 vertical feet or almost 250 miles!!  We had 10 participants ski over 40,000 vertical feet and 4 skied over 60,000--that's 11 1/2 miles!  It was an exhausting, but exciting day continuing our fight for CURES!!  Everyone enjoyed the day and a had a wonderful time at the After Party at the Broken Arrow celebrating our success.  A big thanks to all who participated and all those who sponsored them
